Typography Brief
Before i started this course, i was really interested in typography. In the interview i even said that i knew my specialty would be typography. But since being here i have barely looked at it, and am now more image driven. However, i am so happy we have this project based all on typography. I want to get back into it and see if i am more image or typography driven.

New Brief - Communication is a Virus, how does it spread?
Me and Emma are working as a creative partnership for this next brief.
We have selected the task to promote the colour red.
Our concept so far, is to celebrate the colour. We intent to produce a package aimed at students that demonstrates, 'paint the town red' or in this case, paint their room red. So the package will be made up of just shades of red and maybe white or black for text and it will include posters and leaflets containing images of things that are red - such as a tomato ketchup bottle. I think it will have a pop art feel to it, as we will use things that are seen often in the public eye that stand out as being red items. The idea is that the posters and leaflets are to put up in the student rooms, so they are "painting" their rooms red.
Also the idea of giving this packages out in envelopes, in ours minds, relates to the idea of spreading like a virus. As you pass it on.
And to document the project, i think we should put a message in the pack asking people to photograph posters in their room. I doubt many people will do this, but we may get a few responses. If not, i shall give the packages to people in my halls and take photographs of that.
Another idea that has just come to mind, is the Royal Mail. We could look at this as another idea, as i think it quite strongly connects to the idea of spreading like a Virus.

Final Book Design

Mail Shot
This is my final piece for the one week brief. I had the profession librarian. The concept behind this piece was originally for it to be in the style of a book. I took images of glasses on a chain close up relating to the idea of "page turners." A chain of events in a story, also because i see a stereotypical librarian to be wearing glasses on a chain. I chose to do close ups of the glasses as it is not obvious what it is at first, just like a story, it becomes clearer towards the end. I put dates onto the images to highlight the idea of a connected series of events.
On the front of the envelope i had a bar code with a red line. This is because when i think of a library one piece of imagery that comes to mind is when they scan the books. And I thought if this would be quite effective on an envelope. It may make the viewer think they are getting a product free because it has been given a bar code.

Billboardom
I like the concept behind this video - any film you can imagine. Its a clever idea and i like how they change the search words as they change the image. It displays the idea of "any film you can imagine," as it uses a frame that moves around everywhere, so anything anyone sees in front of them can become a video available on Google.
The fact that you can also see people interacting with it makes it seem more real and accessible. Seeing how people interact with the frame is interesting and sometimes is humorous.
